Writer's Free Reference was first published in August 1992 with 12 links to other websites providing free information for writers. Over the years, it has grown to over 200 links to a wide variety of information, not only for writers, but also for students, teachers, businessmen and women, researchers, and anyone looking for any type of data.







Today’s world population is estimated to be 6.7 billion people (6,767,805,208) with 1.6 billion (1,668,870,408) internet users. In 1992 there was only about 8 million internet users; a growth of over 1.5 billion users, with the last few years showing exponential increases. Estimates are for this phenomenal growth to continue for the foreseeable future.

It has been said that in the late 1700s, it was possible for one person to know all the knowledge published at that time. Today an 8-year-old girl has more factual knowledge than King Solomon did in his time. Add to her knowledge the tremendous volumes of data available to her on her computer (or cell phone), and she is very wise indeed. That’s good, because by the time she graduates from university, she will need all that and more to be successful in a world growing more complex by the minute.
